- I lived in Little Gaddesden from approx. the age of 6 which was in 1974. My father still lives in the Village as some of the members are aware. I would spend all day every day of the summer holidays at the Deer Leap and was very good friends with the owner family. At that time it was a Hungarian fellow called Gabi Toth who ran the place with his wife, whose name escapes me and his son Steve and daughter Sue. I would work there during the busy days either helping out in the cafeteria, picking up rubbish in the gardens, cutting the lawns and eventually in the premium position of life guard. I knew that the place had been sold and basically left to rot whilst I guess the new landowners were wrestling with planning permission offices but seeing the photos on this website was really shocking and sadening, knowing what had become of a place that I had loved and enjoyed so much.
